The use of fuses need to pay attention to the following matters
1. After the fuse has blown, a multimeter should be used to check the cause of the wiring fault, and then replace it with a new fuse after eliminating the fault.
2. It is necessary to use the appropriate fuse. Do not use a fuse with a current much higher than that of the circuit or appliance being protected, or short the fuse. The blowing current of a fuse is usually 1.5 to 2.0 times its rated current.
3. Avoid replacing fuses with copper wires, as the material is different, the melting point is different, and the overcurrent protection is also different.
In addition, the rated voltage of the selected fuse should be larger than the input voltage of the protected circuit. When installing fuses, it is also important to note that their rated power, voltage, melting, operating temperature and maximum temperature should be in accordance with the parameters specified in the circuit.
4. If the selected fuse meets the requirements but blows frequently, there may be a problem with the circuit and the power-using equipment. The problem should be identified as soon as possible to avoid hidden danger.
5. It is strictly prohibited to work with electricity when the fuse is installed on the power switch (on/off switch). After pulling the power switch to cut off the power, turn the fastening screw of the fuse clockwise for one week and then tighten it with a washer. Also, the fuse should not be pulled too tightly against the other fastening screws and an allowance should be made to protect the fuse from damage. Do not tighten the fuse until it is properly tightened. In general, the Bakelite cover must be covered for safety and the power switch and fuse must not be exposed;
6. For fuses that blow frequently: In the first case, when the center is broken while both sides are intact, excessive load current can damage or blow the fuse although the current is not high, which is caused by a lowering of the melting point. The second case, the fuse is completely melted when blown, in the fastening screws near the visible burn marks and black and white gray, the cause of this situation is the power supply transient short-circuit and short-circuit current is too large.
Therefore, we have to troubleshoot before installing a new fuse, do not blindly install a fuse without identifying the cause, in order to prevent damage to electrical appliances and cause a fire.
